Unibet is one of those bookmakers that grew up on the Continent and it still shows, in a good way. Its sports A–Z lists chess, floorball, futsal, lacrosse and water polo alongside the football (I’ve not bet on chess yet; give me time), and its Unibet TV streams every NBA and NHL game of the season next to the in-play markets. For anyone who stays up for the American sports, that’s the headline, not the welcome bonus. It’s run by Platinum Gaming Limited in Gibraltar, the same licence as 32Red, and the in-play lobby had 42 live streams running when we looked.
If you have never been to Unibet, here’s the welcome. Why we’d send a friend to Unibet
The streams. Unibet says it shows more than 40,000 live events a year through Unibet TV: La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, EFL and FA Cup games, the NBA, the NHL, ATP and WTA tennis and all UK and Irish racing. The bar to watch is low: be logged in with money in your account, or have placed a bet in the last 24 hours.
Second, the football protections. 2-Up pays your pre-match pick as a winner if it goes two goals ahead, Power Sub pays out if your anytime goalscorer is subbed off and his direct replacement scores, and VAR Goal Guarantee keeps a goalscorer bet alive if VAR rules the goal out in the Premier League. Acca Insurance gives your stake back as a free bet when one leg lets you down.
Third, Add Selections. Spotted another bet you like after you’ve placed your acca? Unibet lets you add selections to an open bet, with the same stake and the odds updated at the time. It’s a small thing, and a useful one.

One thing Unibet could do better
The free bets are fussy. Three of the four £10 free bets have to be Bet Builders with at least four selections, and the fourth is an accumulator with at least four selections, and none can go on racing. That’s fine for a Saturday of Premier League, but it rules out a straight single on the NBA, which is exactly what I’d want to do with a free £10 at 1am. And Unibet doesn’t publish withdrawal times on any page we could open.

Here’s how the Unibet welcome offer works. Register and opt in, then deposit £20 or more by debit card or instant bank transfer (PayPal and the rest don’t count for this one). Within seven days of registering, place £20 or more on sports at evens (2.0) or bigger, and once it settles £40 in free bets arrives, win or lose. There’s no Unibet promo code; the opt-in does the work.

Unibet free bets: how to get them, and how to make them go further
Unibet has more routes to a free bet than most.
- The welcome offer. £40 in free bets for £20 at evens, no code.
- Acca Insurance. If your acca misses by one leg, your stake comes back as a free bet. Bet Builders are excluded, and the limits are in the Reward Centre.
- Refer a Friend. You and your friend may each get a £10 free bet after a £10 bet at evens; it’s for an acca of three or more legs and lasts seven days.
- Money Back specials. On selected races, a free bet back if your horse finishes second or third (£1 to £10 stakes, odds of 2/5 or bigger).
How a Unibet free bet works: the £10 is the bookie’s, so if it wins you keep the winnings, not the stake. And Unibet’s sportsbook terms say Cash Out can’t be used on free bets, so once it’s placed, it rides.
Danny’s tip: four legs is the minimum, not the target. Here’s a made-up example. Say you build a Premier League Bet Builder with four selections that comes to 6.00. A £10 free bet returns £60, minus the £10 stake that isn’t returned, so £50. Add a fifth leg to push it to 10.00 and the return goes to £90, but every extra leg is another way to lose. Four sensible legs on one match you’ve watched all season beats six hopeful ones.

How does £40 for £20 compare? William Hill pays the same £40 for half the stake, a £10 single at evens with the Promo Code FBB40, though all four of its £10 free bets must be Bet Builders too. bet365 pays £30 in Bet Credits for £10 and lets you choose where it goes. Unibet asks for more up front; it gives back more in streams and protections.

- 2-Up. A separate market below the match result on selected football competitions: pick home, draw or away, and you’re paid if that side goes two goals ahead at any point. Pre-match only, and no Cash Out on it.
- Power Sub. If your anytime goalscorer starts, is subbed off before scoring and his direct replacement scores, your bet wins.
- VAR Goal Guarantee. Pre-match bets on selected goalscorer markets in the Premier League still count if VAR rules the goal out.
- Acca Insurance. Stake back as a free bet if one leg fails, for eligible customers; Bet Builders excluded.
- Add Selections. Add legs to an open single or acca; stake unchanged, odds updated, no removals.
- Odds Boosts, Uniboosts and Profit Boost. Daily boosted prices, with max stakes, plus three racing Uniboosts a day on UK and Irish racing (max £20, singles).

Bet Builder on Unibet
Unibet’s Bet Builder combines several selections from one match into one bet, and its welcome free bets are mostly built for it: three £10 Bet Builders with at least four selections each. The general sportsbook terms don’t publish a minimum or maximum, and offer it at Unibet’s discretion. There’s a separate Racing Bet Builder for UK and Irish racing from 11am on race day, with up to four selections and races of at least six runners.
Unibet in-play, cash out and streaming
The live lobby is busy: 99-plus events across football, basketball, tennis, NFL, darts, cricket, rugby union, ice hockey, snooker, table tennis, volleyball, handball and esports when we looked. Unibet’s in-play guide describes The Visualisation, a live scoreboard with shots, corners, cards and a heat map of the pitch.
Cash Out is offered on selected markets, pre-match and in-play, on singles and multiples, and the money lands straight away. It isn’t available on free bets or on the 2-Up market.

Payments and withdrawals
Unibet takes Visa and Mastercard debit, Visa Electron, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut Pay and bank payments through Trustly and TrueLayer, and its terms also list PayPal. Credit cards are out. For the welcome offer, only debit card or instant bank transfer will do.
Withdrawals work on a closed loop: you’ll only see the methods you’ve used to deposit, and customer service can’t change that. The minimum is £5, and Unibet doesn’t charge for withdrawals to UK debit cards or online payment services, though your bank might. You’ll need to be fully verified first.
Promotions for existing players
The regular sports offers: Acca Insurance, 2-Up, Power Sub, VAR Goal Guarantee, Add Selections, Odds Boosts and the Reward Centre’s daily Insurance, Uniboost and Profit Boost. Unibet runs separate apps for sports, casino and poker. Unibet – Live Sports Betting is rated 4.3 on the App Store from 6,700 ratings, weighs 328.3MB and needs iOS 17 or later. It offers Cash Out, Unibet TV streams, the Bet Builder, Uniboosts, in-play betting and Best Odds Guaranteed on racing, plus deposit limits, breaks and self-exclusion. There’s an Android version too.

Safer gambling at Unibet
Unibet gives you two kinds of deposit limit: a plain one and a net one, where withdrawals free up room. Product Block shuts off casino, sports or anything else for 24 hours up to six months. Reality Check pops up every 30, 60 or 90 minutes with your time, wins, losses and stakes. Time Out runs up to six weeks, self-exclusion from six months to five years, and the page links to GAMSTOP, GamCare, BeGambleAware and Gambling Therapy. Set the limit before the qualifying £20, not after.

Who is Unibet best for?
Unibet is best for night owls who bet on the NBA and NHL and want to watch every game they’re on, and for football punters who live on Bet Builders. The 2-Up, Power Sub and Acca Insurance make it a forgiving place to bet on the Premier League. If you want the cheapest way to £40 in free bets, William Hill does it for a tenner; if you want free bets you can spend on a single, bet365 is the better pick.
