The big bookmakers have had British betting to themselves for a long time. That’s why a new name catches the eye: sharper prices, a different way of betting, an app that wasn’t designed a decade ago. The catch is that a new betting site has no track record, so you’re trusting a licence and a set of terms rather than years of paying out.

At Casino Gambler we’ve looked at the new betting sites and challenger bookmakers on the UK market, checked who holds each licence and read the small print. Some are genuinely new; others are newer takes on betting, built on an exchange or on Yes/No predictions. Where we can’t find a launch date, we don’t invent one.

What Makes a Betting Site “New” in 2026?

Truly new UK bookmakers are rare. Getting a Gambling Commission licence takes time and money, so most “new” betting sites fall into one of three camps:

• A new licence. BestOdds is the clearest example here: Razorbill Links Limited’s licence has only been active since 22 August 2025.
• A new kind of betting. SBK and easyBet don’t price their markets like a traditional bookie. SBK’s odds come from the Smarkets exchange; easyBet offers Yes/No Predictions and an exchange where other punters set the price.
• A younger brand. Virgin Bet has only been around since 2019, which counts as young in a market where the leading names go back decades.

Newer UK Betting Sites We’ve Reviewed

BestOdds

BestOdds pairs a sportsbook with a casino, run by Razorbill Links Limited, whose only UK domain is bestodds.com. With a licence dating from August 2025 and an iPhone app first released on 13 November 2025, there’s very little track record to judge. Its UK page says withdrawals take three to five business days once you’re verified, slower than most of the bookmakers below. We’d treat it as one to watch rather than your main account.

SBK

SBK is run by Smarkets (Malta) Limited, the company behind the Smarkets betting exchange, and its “Best Odds” are powered by that exchange. Alongside Bet Builder, Cash Out and acca boosts, it has Fresh Legs, which moves a football bet onto the replacement when your player is subbed. The App Store app rates 4.6 from about 6,100 ratings.

easyBet

easyBet is run by Triplebet Limited in Alderney as part of the easy family of brands. It splits betting across two apps. Predictions offers Yes/No markets priced as a percentage chance, so 80% equals decimal odds of 1.25. The Exchange lets you back, lay, trade and cash out, build multiples at exchange prices and use a Bet Builder across eight sports. Deposits go by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay; there’s no PayPal. Live chat runs from 9am to 2am.

Virgin Bet

Virgin Bet launched in 2019 and is part of LiveScore Group, with the Virgin name used under licence. The sports A–Z is long, from football and racing to sumo, speedway and chess. Withdrawals are processed within 24 hours, then arrive instantly with PayPal, Apple Pay and Revolut Pay, or in one to four hours to cards and Pay by Bank, with no fees. The iPhone app rates 4.7 from about 19,000 ratings.

10bet

10bet isn’t new, but it’s a smaller challenger run by Blue Star Planet Limited, and it’s built for fans of American sport. Early Payout pays pre-match winners at a 20-point NBA lead or 17 points in the NFL, as well as a two-goal lead in football. Cards and e-wallets are paid in one to two days, bank transfers in one to three.

The Established Bookmakers to Compare Against

Before you open an account with a newcomer, it’s worth knowing what the big names offer, because a new site should beat them on something. bet365 pays most withdrawals in one to four hours and streams live sport if you have a funded account. William Hill pays to Visa Direct debit cards in four hours. Unibet streams every NBA and NHL game on Unibet TV, and Betfred suits accumulator punters. What to Check at a New Bookmaker

The licence

Every site above holds a UK Gambling Commission licence. Find the licensee’s name in the footer and check it on the Gambling Commission’s public register, which also lists every domain on that licence. If a betting site can’t show you a UK licence, don’t deposit.

Payments and withdrawal times

Look for a published withdrawal time for your method, not just “fast payouts”. Virgin Bet and bet365 publish theirs by method; SBK didn’t publish its payment methods on any page we could open, beyond Trustly bank payments in its app listing. Credit cards can’t be used to gamble in the UK, and reverse withdrawals are banned, so once you’ve asked for your money it stays requested.

The welcome offer terms

Read the qualifying odds, the payment exclusions and the expiry. SBK’s qualifying bet must be at odds of 3.0 or bigger, Virgin Bet’s at 1.5, and easyBet’s first bet goes on a Predictions market. Markets, streaming and the app

A new bookmaker should do at least one thing better than the giants. For SBK it’s the price; for easyBet, the exchange; for 10bet, American sport. Check that the streams and markets you use are there, and read the app’s ratings before you rely on it.

Safer gambling tools

Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and GAMSTOP self-exclusion are compulsory on every UK-licensed site. If they’re hard to find, that tells you something.

How the 2027 Betting Duty Rise Could Affect New Bookmakers

From 1 April 2027, remote betting duty rises to 25% of operators’ profits on online bets. UK horse racing is the exception and stays at 15%. Duty is paid by the bookmaker, not by you, and your winnings remain tax-free. But a higher tax bill squeezes margins, and newer bookmakers without a large customer base may have less room to absorb it. Keep an eye on whether offers, boosts and prices change after April 2027.
